Veiled screens, 2004
Digital prints and Flash Animation, 2004

Combining old fabric designs with various natural environments, I attempted to call attention to the mental screens we embody when "viewing" our surroundings. The fabric designs are from the Wiener Werkstätte and were used because they come from a time when screens were still beginning to evolve (1910-30's). Although these designs have mechanical elements, there is a organic quality I found weighty and tactile. I also liked the combination of textile designs that are based upon natural forms with natural forms. Along with the prints, I created a randomized Flash animation which featured a little machine who collects photos from the city while bouncing through a stylized abstract space.
